Education · Sunnybank, Brisbane · with FHS Builders
Sunnybank School shade structure
A large structural steel shade cover for a working school — a substantial post array carrying the full structural frame, fabricated in our Brisbane workshop and installed on site.
Delivered as the steel subcontractor to FHS Builders. School sites bring constraints that don't bend: access windows, student safety, and structural requirements signed off by the client's engineer. The structure went up without disrupting the school's operation.

Lift shaft
A structural steel lift shaft fabricated and installed for a commercial building at Hope Island, working to the building's as-built dimensions.
Lift shafts leave no tolerance to play with — the steel has to land where the lift engineer says it lands, or the car doesn't go in. Fabricated in the workshop, delivered and erected on a live site.

Access stairs & stringers
Replacement steel stair stringers, treads and balustrade for a residential building, fabricated in the workshop and installed on site. Stringers cut, drilled and racked in the shed first so site time was a single visit rather than a week of disruption for the residents.
Engaged through the property manager who handles maintenance across a portfolio of body corporate buildings — the kind of client who rings again the moment the next building needs something.

The same job before it left the shed. Every stringer cut, drilled and stacked in sequence, so install is assembly rather than fabrication on someone’s doorstep.

Accessible ramp handrail
Stainless handrail and balustrade to a compliant access ramp, set out and installed to the concreter’s finished levels — delivered for Melrose Built, one of the larger construction companies in Brisbane.

Stair balustrade & handrail
Powder-coated steel balustrade and continuous handrail to an internal stair flight, set out to the finished concrete and fixed both sides. Returns and terminations detailed so the rail is graspable the whole way and compliant at the landings.

Columns, beams and a screen structure erected on the roof of a live commercial building — craned in, propped, plumbed and bolted off, working around the trades already on the deck.

Tiered seating structure
Steel-framed tiered seating built under the same Sunnybank package as the shade structure — a second scope on the same site, delivered without a second mobilisation.

Hockey & cricket grounds
Handrail, balustrade, welded mesh infill and a side gate to a hockey field, plus full handrail and cross-bracing to two cricket grandstands. Built from 50×50×5 RHS with 50×50×3 mesh, fabricated in Brisbane and installed over the border.

Medication security cage
A full-height welded mesh security cage for a veterinary practice’s controlled-drug store. Framed in steel section, clad in welded mesh, fitted with a lockable mesh door and bolted through to the slab so the whole structure is fixed, not freestanding.
Built to the room’s dimensions in our workshop, trial-fitted on the floor and installed as a single unit. Where a job holds Schedule 8 medication, the weld and the fixings are the security.

Outdoor fireplace & flue
A one-off firebox door and perforated steel flue, cut, formed and finished in our workshop, then fitted into the brickwork on site. Small jobs get the same weld procedure as the big ones.

Wear parts, access steel and machine mods
Not everything we build is a building. A large part of the work is keeping earthmoving and processing plant running — wear protection, access steel and modifications, done in our workshop or on the client’s floor.

Wear bars & arm protection
Hardfaced wear bars cut, positioned and welded to a machine body to take the abrasion instead of the parent metal. Done properly it buys years; done badly it cracks the thing it was meant to protect.

Track pad repairs
Track pads repaired in the yard off our own plant, with no need to move the machine or the pads twice. The truck carries the welder, the leads and the consumables.

Access stairs & handrail
A full access stairway with grated treads and compliant handrail, fabricated and fitted to a machine so the people servicing it are not climbing on it. Safe access is a modification worth paying for.
